Club Director Tom Ackerman
Tom Ackerman is the current Head Volleyball Coach at Greenville College and Director of Gravity Volleyball Club. Ackerman has taken his team to the SLIAC Conference tournament the last six years and has been named SLIAC Coach of the Year 3 times in his 10 years as head coach. In 2010 Ackerman led his team to the confernce championship for the first time in school history.
The 2011 team won the conference regular season for the second consecutive year and for only the second time in school history. The panthers were defeated in the conference tournament championship which makes there 3rd appearnce in the championship in 3 years. 2011 ended with a record of 22-9.
Ackerman's 2010 team compiled a 26-6 record which is the best record ever recorded by a Greenville College volleyball team. The 2010 Panthers won the SLIAC conference league titile and the SLIAC conference tournament for the first time. The team's 18 game winning streak was snapped in the first round of NCAA tournament. The 2010 team was only the 2nd team from Greenville College to make it to the NCAA tournament and the first womens team to do so.
Coach Ackerman has coached boys and girls for more than 15 years and has a passion for the game. He has served as a member of the AVCA coaches committee and as the NCAA central region representative. USAV volleyball and the gateway region recently recognized Ackerman for his service to the volleyball community by naming him one of the recipients of the Dennis Lafata meritorious service award.
Coach Ackerman and his wife Carrie live in Greenville and have 4 boys.
